You can use all start.me features in your browser. If you want start.me to show up when you open a new tab, you need our New Tab extension. This extension also lets you save bookmarks and open tabs while browsing.

1. What You Can Do [back to top]
- Change your new tab to a start.me page.
- Save bookmarks as you browse.
- Keep open tabs in your Inbox or a widget.
- Search bookmarks from your address bar.
- Bring in bookmarks from your browser.
- Use shortcuts.
Note: If you don't want start.me as your new tab but still want its features, you can use the Bookmarker by start.me extension instead.
2. Installing the Extension [back to top]
The extension is for Google Chrome and other similar browsers. There's a special version for Edge.
- Chrome - Open the Chrome Web Store and search for "start.me". You can also click here.
- Edge - Edge users click here.
- Install the Extension. Chrome or Chromium users click the Add to Chrome button. Edge users click Get.
- Next, we ask you for the permissions we need to make start.me work correctly. On start.me we care about your privacy. That's why we limit the personal data we collect. We do need your permission to be able to communicate with our servers, to display your start.me page, and to change the new tab page to your start.me page. For more information about your privacy, read our Privacy declaration first. Then click Add extension (or Add in Firefox). Edge turns all extensions off by default, so you'll have to turn it on first.
- After this, you will start the onboarding process. If you already have a start.me account, you can skip this part. Click the arrow to continue, or the X to abort.
Note: Because of limitations to the Firefox platform, there is no New Tab Add-On for Firefox. Read this article for a workaround.
3. Adding Bookmarks [back to top]
If you want to bookmark a page, click the extension icon while you're on that page. We will auto-save the page as a bookmark to your Inbox. You can click Close window and continue surfing, or click Remove to delete the bookmark.
Alternatively, you'll have these options:
- Change the Title, as well as the destination page and widget for your new bookmark.
- Add a description or change the URL, you can do this by clicking the link Change description & URL.
- Click Save bookmark to confirm.
Note: the Close window option is most useful when you decide not to organize your bookmark in a destination widget or page.
4. Setting Up the New Tab Page [back to top]
Use the extension settings to choose which start.me page you want as your new tab.
Instructions:
- Click the Cog button in the Extension window to open your preferences.
- The first option is Select your new tab page. From the dropdown, select the personal page you want to set as your New Tab page.
Tip: If you don't want us to set the New Tab Page for you, you can remove the extension and use the Bookmarklet or the Bookmarker extension instead.
5. Using Shortcuts [back to top]
The extension allows you to set up keyboard shortcuts for quick actions.
